Platform overview

Onramper is a ramp-aggregation layer for wallets, exchanges and applications. One widget or API can present fiat-to-crypto purchases and crypto-to-fiat cash-outs from a network of underlying providers, rather than making the integrator build a direct payment and settlement connection to each one.

Routing selects a transaction-specific provider

For an on-ramp, the available provider, quote, asset and payment method depend on the customer’s country and transaction details. Onramper evaluates quoted price, expected conversion, payment availability and KYC friction to recommend an available route; its network combines cards, bank transfers and local alternative methods.

Network-wide counts for payment methods, assets and countries describe possible coverage across partners, not a catalogue guaranteed for every customer. A particular fiat currency, asset, amount and payment route can expose only the providers that support that combination, and the selected provider’s quote determines the customer’s final economics.

The partner remains responsible for identity and settlement

The chosen ramp provider approves the transaction and applies its own identity checks. Routing can favor an eligible provider with lower KYC friction or a provider a returning customer has used before, but the embedded interface does not create one universal identity account or remove provider-level verification.

Offramper sends the customer through a crypto sale and local payout flow. A web application can begin that transfer through a QR code, while a native wallet flow can use the application’s send function; in either case, the chosen provider, asset network and payout method determine the bank, card or other local settlement route.

Aggregation contrasts with Yellow Card’s local rails

Onramper fits an international product that wants one integration and transaction-by-transaction comparison across partner coverage. It is less suitable where the business needs a fixed provider checkout, a single direct commercial relationship, or one specialist payment rail that already serves its audience well.

Yellow Card is the close contrast for African local-currency collection and payout through direct bank-transfer and mobile-money infrastructure, with USD or stablecoin settlement for the business. Onramper instead uses a global provider network, so availability, identity flow and payout timing remain specific to the route displayed for each transaction.
