Platform overview

CoinList is an onchain investing platform whose launchpad gives participants access to selected crypto networks and protocols before exchange listing. Its current offering also includes tokenized equities, real-world assets, funds and vaults, so token sales sit beside a broader set of onchain investment products rather than defining the whole account.

A self-custodial wallet for token-sale participation

Each CoinList account now has a non-custodial wallet by default. In the Zama Auction, participants funded bids and received tokens in that wallet instead of an exchange-style account balance; once distributed, the tokens could be moved to another trading venue.

Self-custody did not make the sale open to every wallet. The Zama offering required a verified CoinList account, and geography excluded residents of numerous countries and regions. A funded account was therefore only one condition among verification, location and the terms of the individual sale.

Zama's confidential Dutch auction

CoinList's first fully onchain sale, the Zama Auction, put bidding, distribution and ownership in the project's native ecosystem and participants' wallets. It used a sealed-bid Dutch auction with encrypted bids: bid contents stayed private while the allocation outcome remained public.

Bids were ranked from highest to lowest until demand consumed the tokens reserved for sale. Bids above the clearing price received their full allocation, bids at that price could be partially filled, and bids below it received no tokens and a refund. This differs from a fixed-price allowlist sale because the participant selects a bid but aggregate demand determines the purchase price and whether a marginal bid fills.

Offering terms that change with each sale

The Zama sale accepted USDC and USDT and used a minimum purchase amount, but payment assets and minimums belong to the particular offering. The sale window, auction format, reserved supply and token-unlock schedule can also change from one CoinList launch to the next.

That matters for a buyer who wants one repeatable launchpad routine: CoinList is not a standing right to buy every asset it presents. Timing, supported funding, verification, geography and the allocation rules of the specific offering all limit participation.

Auction pricing rather than POLS-linked access

Polkastarter is a close alternative for early token offerings, but it links access to allowlisting and POLS Power. Users can gain POLS Power by staking POLS or through qualifying POLS liquidity positions, whereas CoinList's Zama sale centered on a verified account, supported stablecoin funding and a confidential bid.

Polkastarter may be more relevant to someone who wants an access route tied to POLS staking or liquidity. CoinList's auction format instead suits a participant willing to accept demand-set pricing and the possibility of a partial fill at the clearing price.
