Platform overview
CoinGate is a managed crypto payment processor for businesses. Its merchant account joins customer checkout, invoice collection, payment confirmation, conversion and settlement in one dashboard, so the asset a customer sends and the asset a merchant receives can be different parts of the same payment flow.
Invoices connect checkout to a fixed-rate payment request
At checkout, CoinGate presents an invoice and payment address. A customer pays a supported crypto asset at a fixed exchange rate, linking the crypto amount sent to the invoice while letting the merchant configure a preferred settlement currency rather than necessarily keeping the customer’s payment asset.
CoinGate detects the on-chain transfer and confirms it before completing the payment lifecycle. That confirmation connects the customer’s transfer to either crypto settlement or conversion into fiat or another supported asset for the merchant. Standard invoices can accept an underpayment tolerance of up to 10%, allowing a slightly short payment to complete instead of automatically failing or expiring.
Settlement balances also support conversion, withdrawals and payouts
Payments can settle automatically in crypto or be converted into fiat currencies including EUR, USD and GBP. A CoinGate balance can then be converted manually from the dashboard or through automation and withdrawn to the merchant’s own crypto wallet, or to the merchant’s own bank account for EUR.
The same managed balance can fund crypto payouts to saved recipient addresses, individually, through CSV batches or through the payouts API; assets can also be converted at payout time. EUR withdrawal is a transfer of the merchant’s own funds to its bank account, whereas CoinGate does not offer EUR payouts to third parties.
Recurring collection and post-payment operations share the API
Payment Channels assign a customer a dedicated non-expiring crypto address. Repeated deposits to that address are detected, attributed to the customer and routed through the same settlement process, extending the invoice model to ongoing deposits.
The API covers payment collection, one-off and recurring invoices, full or partial refunds, conversions and payouts. Payment, conversion, payout and refund activity is recorded in the dashboard and can be filtered and exported, keeping collection and later asset operations in the same merchant account.
Plugins, links and network support define the integration path
Merchants can use payment links, direct API integration or API-based plugins for WooCommerce, Magento 2, PrestaShop, OpenCart and WHMCS. Plugins and links provide a less custom route into checkout, while the API can connect payment events to a bespoke webshop, SaaS product or platform.
CoinGate supports BTC, ETH, LTC, TRX and USDC across listed networks including Base, Arbitrum, TRON, BSC and Solana, so a customer payment depends on the supported asset-and-network combination. An integration can also offer Binance Pay alongside on-chain invoice options. Sandbox accounts support pre-launch payment-flow testing, and permission-controlled API keys can scope integration access.
CoinGate and CoinPayments: similar managed flows, different operating tools
CoinGate and CoinPayments both combine managed checkout, invoices, APIs, plugins, conversion and settlement, with provider-operated accounts handling post-payment assets. CoinGate places recurring deposit attribution through Payment Channels, recipient crypto payouts and full or partial refunds in the same API that collects checkout payments.
CoinPayments documents three checkout-branding patterns, fixed-rate invoicing, delegated account controls and MPC and multi-signature custody features. CoinGate instead documents a checkout invoice and payment address that lead into automated settlement choices, merchant balance conversion and withdrawals, plus payout operations from that balance.
