Platform overview
Yield Yak is an Avalanche- and Arbitrum-focused yield optimizer. Its standard farms pool a designated asset or liquidity position in an external yield source, harvest the resulting rewards and reinvest them, so depositors receive a growing pooled position instead of managing each reward distribution.
Yak Swap routes rewards back into the farm position
At reinvestment, a Yield Yak strategy harvests reward tokens, converts them into the assets needed by the original position and redeploys that position. For a liquidity-pool position earning a third reward token, the conversion commonly splits into the two assets needed to rebuild the pool position.
Yak Swap can check available onchain liquidity for each conversion instead of permanently using one DEX route. Where that extra routing cost outweighs the expected improvement, the strategy can retain a fixed route, balancing conversion quality against gas spent on compounding.
Vault returns and fees belong to the chosen strategy
Displayed farm and vault returns are net of each vault's stated fees. A vault may have no fee, a management fee deducted over time, or a performance fee charged on gains; Yield Yak documents no deposit or withdrawal fee for its vaults.
The return still originates with the underlying farm and its reward tokens. Changes in that position, its rewards, available swap liquidity or the conversion route affect the Yield Yak position because the vault is compounding an external source rather than creating a separate yield stream.
Milk Vaults rotate managed Avalanche allocations
Ecosystem Vaults, also called Milk Vaults, use Boring Vault architecture and let strategists move capital among Avalanche yield opportunities. They are managed portfolios with transparent positions and daily optimization, not simply a single farm auto-compounder.
Yield Yak's Suzaku vaults add another form of managed allocation: specified Avalanche assets mint a corresponding restaked receipt token, are deployed through Suzaku's security marketplace for Avalanche L1s, and have rewards compounded back into the vault.
Automation beside direct farms and Beefy
Using the underlying farm directly leaves the holder in control of reward tokens, harvest timing and any liquidity-position decisions. Yield Yak trades that control for pooled conversion and redeployment, which is most useful when the supported deposit position matches the holder's intended exposure.
Beefy is the closest broad auto-compounding comparison. Both harvest external farm rewards into the depositor's position; Yield Yak is more focused on Avalanche and Arbitrum and uses Yak Swap in its reinvestment routing, while Beefy is the broader multichain option.
