Unstoppable Domains

Unstoppable Domains issues blockchain domains through the Unstoppable Name Service. Each UNS domain is an ERC-721 token that can connect a readable name with cryptocurrency addresses, chat identifiers, IPFS content and other stored records.

Minting establishes ownership without renewal

A minted UNS domain is described as irrevocably owned: it has no renewal cycle and cannot be reclaimed by Unstoppable Domains. The UNS contract lets an owner transfer, update, burn or delegate management of the domain, while whitelisted minters can issue new second-level domains without changing a holder’s existing domain or records.

Ownership can sit with a smart contract as well as a wallet. That allows multisignature or shared-administration arrangements, but the permissions of that controlling contract then define who can manage the domain. The absence of renewal removes expiry from the lifecycle; retaining wallet access or respecting the contract’s rules remains central to control.

A key-value record dictionary alongside ownership

UNS keeps ownership and records together, using a key-value dictionary keyed to the domain namehash. It can hold coin addresses, IPFS hashes, chat IDs, standardized values and custom records, giving a domain several potential uses at once.

A wallet, browser or app still has to read the relevant key and understand its value. UNS accepts arbitrary record values, so a stored record only becomes useful where the receiving product supports that record type. Reverse resolution can return a readable domain for a configured address, or no result when none is set.

Delegated transactions retain the owner’s signature

EIP-2771 meta-transactions allow a separate account to submit minting or management transactions. The domain owner’s signature is still required for a transfer or record change, separating transaction-fee payment from authority to alter the domain.

ENS is the close contrasting naming service. ENS .eth names expire without renewal and use resolver interfaces for records; UNS domains have no renewal requirement and keep their flexible record dictionary alongside ownership in the Registry. The practical difference is the preferred namespace, control lifecycle and support in the apps that will resolve the domain.
