Platform overview

TradingView’s CEX Screener is an interactive analysis surface for exchange-listed crypto pairs. It treats each base/quote pair on a supported centralized exchange as its own market, rather than reducing every venue to one provider-computed asset value.

The unit of analysis is the exchange-specific pair

The same asset can appear as several markets with different prices, spreads and volumes. The CEX Screener compares tens of thousands of crypto pairs and is distinct from TradingView’s separate decentralized-exchange screener.

CEX coverage is not universal crypto coverage: unsupported exchanges, unlisted pairs and onchain pools fall outside this surface. A displayed instrument also does not itself establish that a connected account, a jurisdiction or a broker makes it executable.

Filters and indicators help select a screen, not validate a trade

Users can filter by exchange, base and quote currency, symbol type, price, 24-hour volume, gaps, volatility, valuation measures and technical indicators. The overview combines exchange name, current price, volume and a technical rating, while other column sets focus on performance or technical values.

RSI, Stoch RSI, Momentum, EMA, SMA and Keltner Channels are among the available technical filters, with configurable parameters for many indicators. Spot pairs, futures and perpetuals must be separated before comparison because their price formation, volume, funding and settlement differ.

The workflow is dashboard-led and export-based

A user opens the CEX Screener or Supercharts, applies filters, inspects rows and charts, saves screens or column sets and can export the selected screen as CSV. Auto-refresh can update the interface, but an export remains a snapshot of the screen, filters and columns at that point.

TradingView explicitly says it does not currently provide an API for access to its data or indicator values. Its REST API is for brokers seeking support on the TradingView platform, not a general-purpose crypto market-data interface.

A chart, paper trade and connected account have separate roles

A team can use the screener for discretionary research and manually exported datasets, but should not build unattended quote collection, signal production or backend pricing around undocumented interface traffic. Research throughput depends on analyst interaction and snapshots rather than a contractual request-per-minute data service.

Direct trading connections are separate from screening and paper trading. A user needs to connect an available exchange or broker account to place real orders; a row in the screener does not grant trading permissions or replace execution checks.

CoinGecko fits documented backend retrieval

TradingView fits pair discovery, cross-exchange comparison, technical screening, chart inspection and analyst-created CSV snapshots. Technical ratings are conditional on the selected symbol, timeframe and parameters, and do not guarantee liquidity, fill quality or future performance.

CoinGecko is the contrasting option for backend retrieval, reproducible ingestion and capacity planning around documented API entitlements. It offers keyed REST and plan-dependent streaming delivery with published call, rate and history limits, whereas a TradingView subscription should not be assumed to create data-API rights.
