Platform overview

Nayms is an onchain insurance and reinsurance platform for creating, underwriting, tokenizing, trading and settling policies through Ethereum smart contracts. Its core unit is a business Entity, so participants act for a company or organization rather than using it only as individual retail policyholders.

Roles assigned to a business Entity

An Entity can act as an insured party, underwriter, broker, claims administrator or cell. Those roles determine whether it can issue or approve a policy, pay a premium, make a claim, or approve and settle one, tying policy actions to authorized organizational roles.

Users operate through wallet addresses, including multisig addresses, and authenticate by signing a passphrase on behalf of their Entity. This design lets a business assign insurance activity to the relevant organization instead of treating every action as an individual-wallet purchase.

Policies that require system-manager approval

A Nayms policy represents an insurance policy onchain and can name an Insured Party and Capital Provider. Premiums and other policy details are defined offchain, while their hash is stored onchain.

A Nayms System Manager must approve a policy before it takes effect. Nayms currently has one policy type, the Simple Policy, so the platform is not a permissionless page where any wallet can independently activate any policy design.

Cells and tokenized participation in portfolios

Cells issue and manage portfolios of policies on behalf of capital providers. A cell can raise capital by issuing participation tokens, also called platform tokens or P-Tokens; each token represents a share of that cell's insurance portfolio rather than a claim on Nayms as a whole.

Capital providers buy a cell's tokens through their own business Entities. The cell can distribute portfolio profits to token holders, who may claim accumulated distributions, and Nayms also describes secondary trading of those tokenized interests. This links policy underwriting to capital formation and gives the provider a position in a particular portfolio rather than merely a premium payment.

Costs attached to account and portfolio activity

Nayms lists account-setup or licensing fees, a 3% account-management commission on premium volume, a 0.3% fee on secondary-market trades and a 1% initial-capitalization fee on primary-market transactions. These charges sit beside the economics of a policy or cell portfolio and can matter to an organization choosing how to capitalize and trade a position.

The Entity role, policy approval and current service structure are material limits on access. Nayms is built for organizations creating, approving, funding or administering insurance and reinsurance portfolios, not for any wallet seeking a universal self-serve cover purchase.

Portfolio capital rather than member-purchased cover

Nexus Mutual is the close crypto-native alternative for direct cover on supported risks. It pools member capital and NXM risk stakes behind cover products, whereas Nayms separates insurance activity into Entity roles, cells and tokenized participation in specific portfolios.

For a business managing an insurance or reinsurance portfolio, Nayms's cell structure is the more relevant model. For a member buying cover against a supported crypto risk, Nexus Mutual provides the more direct purchase flow.
