Platform overview

Compass Mining offers hosted Bitcoin mining around customer-owned ASICs: the customer chooses hardware, location and mining pool, while the host installs, powers and maintains the machine at a facility. Pool rewards follow the customer's separate pool and wallet configuration rather than a Compass custody balance.

Marketplace-led hosting for owned machines

Compass presents new and second-hand ASIC options through a hardware marketplace, then pairs the selected unit with available hosting capacity. It says its verified-facility network spans the United States and Canada and can serve individual through large deployments.

An advertised online date is an estimate tied to the listing, facility and capacity. Compass says its deployment process can be under 48 hours, but the customer FAQ qualifies that actual timing varies. Marketplace resale is presented as an exit route for hardware, while the applicable hosting agreement and order terms govern a specific deployment.

Facility operations and uptime qualification

Compass says it manages power, environment and maintenance with on-site technicians, and exposes fleet status and support through its platform. The customer is using hosted infrastructure rather than operating a miner at home.

Its 95% uptime guarantee is described as a combination of miner uptime and service-level credits for excessive downtime; actual miner uptime can vary. Maintenance, relocations, power outages and facility-network issues remain possible, and published competitive-power messaging is not a universal electricity-rate contract.

Pool setup remains a customer responsibility

Before installation, a customer selects a mining pool and provides default pool information in the dashboard. For an unlisted pool, Compass asks for a Stratum URL and username; absent default pool information can delay configuration.

Read-only pool access and an API key are optional troubleshooting and dashboard-visibility tools, not stated prerequisites for ownership or basic pool setup. Compass says it neither holds nor distributes mined Bitcoin: rewards are sent according to the wallet address configured with the selected pool.

Multi-facility ownership versus MiningStore's Iowa model

Compass is the relevant comparison for an owner who wants marketplace hardware, multiple North American hosting locations and a pool-controlled payout path. Its economics remain sensitive to hardware, facility capacity, power terms, pool fees, network conditions and downtime; Compass does not guarantee earnings or break-even timing.

MiningStore is more geographically concentrated in Iowa and adds a separately defined managed-mining program. That program can change the settlement flow and fee structure, unlike Compass's stated customer-configured mining-pool wallet route.
