Chainalysis combines ongoing crypto-risk monitoring with a specialist investigation workspace. Its design joins KYT alerts that identify activity for review with Reactor tracing that follows funds, counterparties and attributed entities across blockchains.

From an alert to a traced flow

KYT can generate behavioral, direct-exposure and indirect-exposure alerts, including exposure to sanctioned entities. Teams can tune alert conditions and thresholds, such as the proportion of funds exposed to high-risk categories, so the monitoring layer is a routing system for activity that merits review rather than a conclusion about that activity.

Reactor begins with a wallet, transaction, entity or suspicious flow and expands the relationship graph to follow asset movement and counterparties. That creates the escalation path: KYT identifies a risk-relevant event, while Reactor provides the investigation surface for reconstructing the movements behind it.

Attribution needs case-level interpretation

Reactor connects wallet activity to attributed real-world entities and is built to turn blockchain analysis into a documented investigative record for law-enforcement, intelligence, regulatory, tax, exchange, financial-institution and corporate teams. The usable output is more than raw ledger data: it is tracing plus the analyst’s explanation of why the observed relationships matter.

An attributed entity or a risk alert remains evidence context, not independent proof of identity, ownership, intent or a legal outcome. Confidence is limited by blockchain data, attribution coverage, configured access and the reasoning retained with the case.

Deployment controls can shape the operating model

Chainalysis offers regional cloud residency, on-premises deployment and FedRAMP-authorized environments for investigation work. Those choices make data control and security requirements part of implementation, rather than assuming a single consumer-style access path fits every team.

Compared with TRM Labs, Chainalysis is more directly suited to a workflow that needs configurable KYT exposure monitoring before a Reactor-based deep dive. TRM Labs places more emphasis on graph annotation, visible attribution basis and frontline-to-specialist case escalation.
